Animal care centre Louterbloemen, Dordrecht

After years of talking, the animal shelter Louterbloemen and six municipalities in the Drechtsteden signed a multi-year partnership in late March. With those signatures, the shelter can start with the long-cherished new construction and renovation. The new building of the Dordrecht animal shelter is necessary to meet all legal requirements that will take effect from 2020. The plans include space for a larger kennel for the dogs, the cats also have more space and there is a building for other types of animals, such as rodents and birds. The current building will remain, but the interior will be completely gutted and rearranged. In addition, there will be a connection between the old building and part of the new building.

Bureau Bouwkunde Nederland has supported the client for various architectural matters, from the Final Design (DO) to implementation.
