Artis is busy with the restoration of the National Monument Groote Museum. The Groote Museum (architect J. Maurik) was built in 1855 and was once the most modern building in Amsterdam. However, the museum has been closed to the public since 1947. After the restoration, the museum will fulfill its functions again.
Bureau Bouwkunde has provided the architectural elaboration for the Construction ready Design of the restoration and renovation of the Groote Museum. The plan elaboration is unique in all facets. It concerns a sustainable renovation in which authentic architectural features and monumental elements must be guaranteed.
